Highlands Solidarity Colegio Privado Madrid (La Moraleja)

The value of solidarity is promoted at the school from Infants to Baccalaureate. For this purpose, different activities are organised throughout the school year, which are carried out by teaching and non-teaching staff, pupils and families:

  • Solidarity race in favour of the Altius Foundation, in which Infant Education pupils take part every year.
  • “Day without uniform” in favour of the Altius Foundation, in which Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate students take part every year.
  • Solidarity evening to spend a day with the family, held at the end of each school year, to benefit the Altius Foundation.
  • The Domund campaign, in favour of missionaries, which the Church carries out annually in October, in which all the families and staff of the school participate.
  • Social participation. All Secondary and Baccalaureate students carry out an annual volunteer project that involves at least three specific actions of collaboration with an institution. The school collaborates with Fundación Altius, Fundación A LA PAR, Cottolengo del P. Alegre, Fundación Madrina, Fundación Instituto San José de los Hermanos de San Juan de Dios, Cáritas de la parroquia de San Juan de Dios de Vallecas, Colegio de Educación especial María Corredentora, residencia de ancianos Orpea, residencia de ancianos Nazaret.
  • Food bank: The pupils, with their families, are responsible for collecting food, during a weekend, in the campaign organised by the Madrid Food Bank.
  • Since 2015, our school has been twinned with the Highlands Turkana School in Kenya, a centre where the Pablo Horstmann Foundation, in collaboration with the Social Missionary Sisters of the Church, provides food, education and medical assistance to 200 children under the age of seven. Children in the 3rd year of primary school have the opportunity, through their First Communion, to carry out a solidarity experience.
  • Clothing collection campaign throughout the year. Once washed and sorted, they are delivered to Cáritas de Alcobendas and Cáritas de San Sebastián de los Reyes.
  • Large TOY COLLECTION. During the month of December the educational community gets involved in the campaign to collect new and repaired toys, organised by the ONG “Repara un juguete”, founded by some parents of the school, with the fundamental objective of ensuring that no child is left without toys at Christmas.
  • During the month of December, basic necessities and personal hygiene products are collected at the school and delivered to the Altius Foundation.
  • The families take part in the family volunteering programme of the ONG “Nadiesolo”. One Saturday a month, our families are in charge of accompanying a disabled child and spend the morning with him/her in one of the recreational and cultural activities organised by the institution itself.
