Our approach to education

At Highlands School El Encinar, our children build their learning and develop their intellectual and emotional skills in a playful environment suited to their needs, supported by an education in virtues and values from age 1 to 5.

Early English immersion: preparing our youngest children for a global world

Internationalisation

English immersion from age 1. We use innovative methodologies such as A Day Care (Nursery, for learning English) and Innovamat (Early Years, for maths). To spark their curiosity and their care for the environment, we hold Preschool Science Week twice a year, with experiments in the laboratory and outdoors through enjoyable, meaningful activities. We also encourage them to take part in events throughout the year that bring them closer to English-speaking culture: Child of the Week, Thanksgiving, Sports Day and more.

At Highlands El Encinar we educate excellent pupils

Personal accompaniment and individual attention

Catholic formation

At Highlands School El Encinar in La Moraleja, children experience for themselves what it means to be loved children of God.

As well as religious education lessons, we teach our children to pray and to live the virtues and values. We want them to feel part of a community that expresses God’s love through taking part and being generous.

Family activities

We know that parents are the first and most important educators of their children, and we are committed to working alongside them. At Highlands School El Encinar families are at the heart of school life, so their presence and their involvement in our parenting workshops, marriage workshops and other activities are essential to our approach to education.

Child of the Week

As part of our educational programme, every child in Early Years enjoys a week as the star of the class. Through a range of activities they build their confidence and self-esteem, learn to speak in public and develop skills for their all-round development.

Digitally confident children

We develop the full range of digital skills in our children

At our nursery in La Moraleja we see digital and robotics skills as one more tool in the all-round development of our Early Years children. By introducing basic programming and technology concepts in an intuitive way, we build their digital skills while stimulating their curiosity, their ability to work as a team and their critical thinking. At Highlands El Encinar we believe in an education that prepares our children for the challenges of the future.

What makes our Early Years so successful

At our nursery in La Moraleja, children build their learning and develop their intellectual and emotional skills in a playful environment suited to their needs, supported by an education in virtues and values. We make sure they feel confident in a second language, which is why every activity and programme runs in two languages: English and Spanish.
