School lunch

Our school lunch service is run by Scolarest.

At Highlands School we are committed to healthy eating, and we help our pupils understand the importance of a healthy, balanced diet.

The school menu is designed and supervised by a team of nutritionists, prepared in our own kitchens on site and adapted to the nutritional needs of every pupil. Specific menus are available for pupils with allergies or any other condition certified by their doctor.

Mealtimes are also part of our pupils’ education, in an area that matters a great deal in their daily lives: we encourage good eating habits and good manners, and we work on values such as order, discipline, gratitude for our food and courtesy towards the people who serve us.

School transport

We run 8 school bus routes for our pupils across the Madrid area. Each year the stops are set according to demand from new pupils.

Every route has a qualified bus attendant who is in constant contact with parents and with the routes coordinator.

Extra-curricular activities

Thanks to our excellent facilities, set in more than 22,000 square metres, we offer a wide range of options during the school day, suited to each pupil’s age, that develop their artistic and spatial, physical, sporting, linguistic and verbal abilities as part of an all-round education. From padel, swimming, judo, ballet, modern dance, flamenco, drama, Kumon, robotics, piano and guitar to classics such as football, basketball and volleyball.

See all our extra-curricular activities and timetables here

After school and at weekends, thanks to agreements with a number of providers, we offer cultural and sporting activities for pupils, families, friends and neighbours of Highlands.

The facilities are welcoming and very comfortable, with three arenas for schooling and a large field for hacking out and enjoying the countryside. Lessons are suitable for children from age 4, at beginner, intermediate and advanced level: children who can already ride will make significant progress in their knowledge and skill in the saddle.

Timetable options:

  • Tuesdays 17:30 (50 minutes’ riding, 10 minutes’ preparation)
  • Thursdays 17:30 (50 minutes’ riding, 10 minutes’ preparation). Groups of a maximum of 7-8 pupils, formed according to age. Price: 310 euros per term (October-December / January-March / April-June) for one group lesson a week (except advanced and competition level), on either a pony or a horse.

Swimming

Menudos Delfines celebrates nine years at Highlands El Encinar!

Our teaching is personal and individualised: learning is based on play, and always on motivation and a good rapport with each pupil. Swimming lessons are in small groups and last 30 minutes at every age (from 18 months). For babies aged 6 to 18 months we offer parent-and-baby swimming classes. Group activities such as water polo and synchronised swimming are also available, provided there is a minimum of 5 registrations.

PARENT AND CHILD PLAN:

If you would like to swim while we teach your child, ask about our parent-and-child plan: for 5 euros more a month you can swim in a free lane during their lesson.

OPEN SWIMMING:

We also offer passes for open swimming (weekdays from 18:30, except Fridays from 17:00; Saturdays throughout the pool’s opening hours). Passes are bought directly at the pool.

You can register directly on our website, www.menudosdelfines.com. For more information, contact Sara, the Menudos Delfines coordinator at El Encinar, on +34 717 71 62 71.

Chess

Chess has undeniable educational value and brings clear benefits to a pupil’s learning, encouraging habits of study and reading as well as developing a range of skills that are essential to their education and personal development:

Intellectual development, imagination, concentration, creativity, memory, patience, logical reasoning, discipline, scientific thinking, tenacity, self-criticism, responsibility, weighing up risk, motivation, sportsmanship, self-esteem, planning, following rules, respect for your opponent, spatial awareness, anticipating consequences, mental calculation

Our main aim is for your children to enjoy learning chess, which is far more than just a game. Activities include an internal tournament for every pupil enrolled: at the end of the school year, trophies are awarded to the top finishers and a chess medal to EVERY participant.

We also hold several free tournaments that parents and other family members can take part in.

Timetable: 1º–6º de Primaria (ages 6-12), Tuesdays 17:00-18:00

The activity costs 30 euros a month

Ángel: +34 635 866 787. direccion@ajedrezlasdostorres.es. Please give the pupil’s name and year group, and the full name, DNI (Spanish national ID number) and account number of the bank account holder. Fees are collected by direct debit each term.

Rhythmic gymnastics

Rhythmic gymnastics can be practised individually or as a group, and combines movements from ballet, gymnastics and dance with apparatus such as the ball, hoop, clubs and ribbon. It improves coordination and concentration, builds flexibility and muscular strength, and develops a sense of harmony, an eye for aesthetics and self-confidence. In this club, pupils learn the main rules, movements and techniques, and how to use each piece of apparatus.
